'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the deflection before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
